Another One Gets Busted NEWS327 Questions $4.56 Gas Price at Cardington BP

NEWS327’s ongoing examination of gasoline prices across Ohio brought us to the BP/Duchess location at 101 Gilead St., Cardington, OH 43315, where regular gasoline was posted at $4.56 per gallon on October 2, 2026. NEWS327 approached the clerk seeking comment about the price displayed at the station. According to the clerk, the manager had instructed employees not to speak with the press. That response raises an obvious question: why would management direct employees not to discuss a publicly posted gasoline price when a journalist is asking for an explanation?

A refusal to comment does not by itself establish wrongdoing. From an investigative standpoint, however, the response is notable. NEWS327 is documenting what motorists are seeing at the pump, asking businesses directly about their pricing, and giving those businesses an opportunity to respond. At this BP/Duchess location, no explanation for the $4.56 price was provided during the visit. NEWS327 will continue examining gasoline prices across Ohio, documenting what we find, and asking questions when prices at the pump warrant closer public scrutiny.
